Which size to buy

Medium is the safest single choice — it is the one most people reach for most often, and it clears the size limits of most airlines' hold allowances. Small is cabin-focused, but check his airline's cabin dimensions before assuming it qualifies. Large is for people who travel with a family or for a month.

What to print — and what not to

Initials, a pattern, or an image. Do not print a full name or a home address across a suitcase: it tells a stranger at a carousel exactly who owns it and, on a hotel trolley, where it is going. Initials give you the whole identification benefit without that.

Where it works less well
