Which size
Measure his laptop's screen diagonal, and round up rather than down — a sleeve that is slightly large is usable, one that is slightly small is not. 13" covers most MacBook Air and 13" Windows laptops; 15" covers the larger Air and most 15" machines; 17" is for gaming and workstation laptops.
Padded sleeve or hard shell

Where it works less well
