Which size

This one suits a couple who host occasionally. If they host properly, buy the 13¾ x 9¾ large instead — the difference between the two matters once there are more than four people standing around it. The 13¼ x 7 compact board is the cheeseboard-for-two option.

What to engrave — and the trap

A single first name on a board going into a shared kitchen reads oddly and cannot be undone. Use a surname, both first names, the year of a move or a wedding, or a street name. When in doubt, the year is always safe. This is the most common personalization mistake we see.

Who it suits

Weddings, housewarmings, and any household where food gets put out rather than plated.

Care

Hand wash and dry. A dishwasher cycle dries acacia out and will eventually split it. The slate panel wipes clean.
